Khoai tât gọt vỏ, cắt lát mỏng rồi thái tiếp thành những sợi nhỏ. Ngâm khoai tây đã cắt vào thau nước trong khoảng 5 phút để loại bỏ nhựa tinh bột rồi vớt ra để ráo nước.
Ớt chuông bỏ hạt, thái sợi. Hành tây thái lát mỏng. Thịt xông khói thái thành những sợi nhỏ.
Phi thơm tỏi băm với 2 muỗng canh dầu ăn, cho khoai tây vào đảo đều 1-2 phút. Khi khoai tây hơi dịu xuống thì thêm vào ớt chuông và thịt xông khói. Nêm 1/4 muỗng cà phê muối, 1/4 muỗng cà phê tiêu, đảo đều cho tan gia vị. Khi khoai tây chín thì thêm 1 muỗng canh dầu mè vào, trộn đều rồi tắt bếp.
