Good value in his unit because of the low price. Some things to consider. The gear housing is made of plastic. Not sure of the durability because of this fact. I did not try to see inside this housing to see how much metal there was inside. Husky makes a unit with die cast gear housing but the price is a lot more. The oiler on mine tends to leak a little. Not a big deal though. It has a real saw chain... not some weird cheap chain. This was of concern because I have seen some really cheap ones. The vents for saw chips tends to fill up with chips but this does not defeat the saw action. It is relatively heavy so you need some backbone to use it especially with the boom extension installed. With this installed the whole unit is about 9 feet long. The instructions warn against obtaining an additional extension but I know that Amazon has one that you can purchase. An additional extension is pretty expensive considering the price of the pole saw itself. The pole saw fit my Ryobi 4 cycle trimmer easily and it seems to have more than enough power to cut through 8 inch limbs (I tried one already). Some have said it would cut 16 inch wood. And it would if you were to cut from both sides. But my personal opinion is that you should not do this on a regular basis because it is just not a heavy duty implement. Get a real chain saw for those kind of jobs and your pole saw will last a lot longer. Because of it's lightweight construction I recommend reading carefully and internalizing all of the care instructions and paying close attention while in use to the oiler, chain sharpness and chain tension. That will make it last longer. If your chain is not sharp you will tend to put too much pressure on the boom and gear housing.

LOVE IT! WORKS GREAT. MUCH SAFER THAN OUR HUSQY RANCHER 440, LESS NOISY, CUTS UP TO 6" DIAMETER LIMBS! It's already paid for itself. We used it first to cut down all the low hanging limbs in the yard. Loved how safe, easy and quiet it is compared to a regular chainsaw, which we also own. Then we cut down a small dead tree in our back yard that was getting ready to fall. When a windstorm blew down a 50 ft tall oak tree on our farm property, we used this saw to cut up the bulk of it. It had lots of limbs and none were huge, so we cut up most of the tree limbs and branches with this little saw, which meant that my wife could use it safely. We took turns and cut up that huge tree in two hours, limbs up to 6" in diameter. TWO CAVEATS to be aware of: This saw was NOT set up properly out of the box. The chain would not rotate and it would have burned up a weedeater if someone who knew nothing about a chain saw had installed it. Also, the oiler was not property adjusted. There needs to be lots of oil flow to the bar and chain to keep down the friction to keep the chain or bar from burning up. Last but not least, the bar oil supplied is less than ideal. I recommend 10W30 Synthetic motor oil, as the oil that came with it was too viscous and it drained out all over the garage floor. Normal bar oil is really just 30W motor oil, and most old timers even reuse old motor oil. I am suggesting that you use new synthetic 10W30 as that worked great. We have now used this so much that it has really paid for itself and the chain is worn out. We hand sharpened it with a file to cut up some old pressure treated 2X6s to take to the dump, and that is as far as I can take it now until I get a new chain. But, they are easy to find. LOVE THIS TOOL. Last, but not least, you really need a heavy duty weedeater to work this tool, as it requires a lot of torque. I recommend a 4 cycle weedeater that is at least 27 cc, better yet, a 30 or 32 cc. Our old weedeater died after using it with this tool, but it was on its last leg. UPDATE: We have had this for 11 months now and it's still working great. We are using SAE 30W oil for the bar oil, or bar oil if we have it, and we regularly get new Oregon 8" replacement chains. I really like this tool, as I can have my young hired assistant do the work without fear he will accidentally cut his foot off, or worse. The chain stops immediately and it would be difficult to injure yourself at the lower RPM, but yet it cuts through big limbs and even medium size trees. Hurricane Irma came through and took down all kinds of live oak tress on our property, and we used this pole saw attachment to do the first round clearing, as it is easier to use and safer than a chain saw. So we were cutting up oak limbs with it, then loading them on a garden cart we pulled behind the riding lawn mower to take the cut up oak limbs and pine limbs to the burn pile. Worked great. Love it!

I have about a mile and a half of trails through the woods on my property. For the past three or four years I have neglected the trails and they were almost overgrown from limbs growing into the trails from the sides, seeking sunlight. I spent about 5 days using the pole saw hacking the limbs back, so that I could open the trails back up. I used the pole saw instead of the chainsaw because I wanted to get the high overhead limbs as well. I also used it to thin out smaller trees in the wooded area around my house. Since most of the trees were no bigger three inches max it was easier to use this instead of the chain saw to eliminate bending over as much. I am not sure the saw was designed for this heavy a work but it held up beautifully. Had to sharpen the blade a few times ( my fault, easy to hit the dirt when you are trying to cut close to the ground on a standing tree). I would definitely recommend this saw for the average homeowner. I think you would get years of service out of it

I've seen several reviews on here saying this thing is junk. Don't believe it. I bought this just to do some light trimming around my house, but after hurricane Irma, I've been using it to clear tons of fallen trees at the local mountain bike park. I've cut hundreds of arm size trees, and several dozen as thick as the bar is long. I've used it like I don't care if it breaks, and it's still going strong. I bought an extra chain, and I haven't even used it yet. I've thrown the chain off twice, both my fault for letting it get bound up cutting a large log under tension. I've cut everything from vines, to trees I had to cut from both sides because they were thicker than the bar. Admittedly, I've likely taken a lot of the long term life out of it, but so far it's just cut and cut and cut. No matter what, I've already gotten my money's worth out of it. Using it on a Toro head unit, by the way.

I have to admit I find this little pole saw to be extremely impressive. I've taken down many 6 to 7 inch limbs with absolutely no issues or concerns. It's powerful yet like and with the extension assuming you're 6 feet tall you can trim up to around 12 to 13 feet. A great tool to have if you have what did areas you like keeping the underbrush cleared out of. I without hesitation would recommend this product to any friend or family member who had need of such an item. I am using this attachment with a Kobalt 80 volt weed eater. This is a great addition to that machine.

I've only used this saw a handful of times so far, but it really came through for me last night. I recently bought a house that is surrounded by trees. Long term I need a regular chainsaw, but I also need a pole saw for clearing any low hanging branches. Well yesterday a thunderstorm ripped through my area and snapped a tree off, blocking my driveway. It wasn't a huge tree, but definitely bigger than anything I had planned to cut with this saw, and it was too big to move whole or drive over. In 20 minutes I was able to cut the tree up and load it in my truck, all by myself. It wasn't the ideal tool for the job, but I had no issues with it. We'll see how it holds up in the long run, but for now I'm excited about getting to use this thing more before the summer is up. Pros: Much lighter and easier to use than the electric pole saw I used to have. Large enough to tackle decent sized trees (though I did have to cut from both sides in one particularly thick section of trunk) Cuts well, chain stays on the track, automatic oiler works well Cons: None so far, the only complaint is that I wish I had a slightly more powerful weed whacker. I just have to be careful about how much pressure I apply while cutting.

I didn't really need a chainsaw (and didn't like the idea of the blade being close to body parts), but I had some branches to cut and brush to clear. This attachment works even better than I thought it would at cutting. Makes short work of even a 4" diameter branch or base, while keeping the busy end away from you. I owned another Trimmer Plus attachment (brushcutter) prior to purchasing this one, and since that one worked well, I wasn't hesitant to buy this one. The only thing that you have to be aware of it to not inadvertently bump the blade sideways against something while cutting, or the blade can come off. No danger or anything, as it is captured and short, but still can be annoying when it happens. The good thing is that it is easy to put it back on its track - 2 nuts, a screw, and an adjustment screw. Would buy again.

This pole saw snapped right into my Husky 128 trimmer. I'm happy to have read the reviews prior to buying as they are very helpful. The chain does come very tight so I loosened it a tad and the preset chain oiler had to be increased as well (about one turn out seems to provide adequate lube without over doing it). I did notice that the wood chips can collect inside the housing so make sure tap the saw to knock some of those out before jumping to the next limb. Now as others have stated the housing is plastic but being a home owner and not running this commercially I feel it is plenty adequate as long as you aren't beating the thing into the side of a tree. Also the plastic is much lighter and easier to hold up in a tree so keep that in mind when you're 20 limbs in and you're happy that your arms haven't fallen off. Use your head with this pole saw it isn't meant to down massive oak trees, just to trim small to medium sized limbs. So as long as you don't expect it to function as a 20" lumberjack duty chainsaw then it'll fit your needs just fine.

Great attachment at $30 less than the manufacturer of my shaft trimmer wants for and identical unit. Comes with a tool to adjust oiler flow and a free small bottle of chain oil as well as the extension shaft. All new chains are sharp of course but this one seems to be a little extra sharp and made short work of trimming oak limbs including dead limbs always a little tougher than green wood. I live on a farm and have been using chain saws over 50 years now, this is a great attachment saw!!

Got this yesterday tore open the package and installed it on my Cub Cadet 25cc two stroke power unit. It fits perfectly. Used it little before dark. Used it again this evening. Nothing but well pleased with this purchase. Chain was a little tight out of the box so I eased it up a bit. Biggest branch I have cut so far about 5 inches in diameter. Like a hot knife through butter. Super easy to set up and use. Definitely going to get my $$$$$$ worth on this purchase.
